Chilled to the bone?
Published Tuesday, January 8th 2019 - Updated Tuesday, September 3rd 2019Julie and I live near the beach in Southern California, so we aren't exactly shoveling snow from our driveway, but the chill is enough to wear a couple of layers of clothes in the morning and bundle up under blankets while watching TV in the evening.
I know what you're probably thinking: "Boo hoo for you. We're happy when the temperature hits the mid-fifties where we live."
That is the point.
You deserve to warm up.
The next few months are the perfect time for fun in the Caribbean or Mexican Riviera sun.
The weather in the tropics is always best from winter through late spring, and the prices are moderate, because school is in session.
That makes it harder for families to cruise, but some teachers will allow students to have take independent study with their families, if there are some educational benefits to the trip.
How much do your kids know about native Americans or European explorers or the evil slave trades? What about the effects of climate change or plastic waste on tropical life? There's always something to learn on vacation if you take a deeper look.
Then again, if you don't have school aged kids and you really just want to enjoy leisurely vacation days, there's nothing better than a cruise. When schools are in session, the crowds are smaller and less rambunctious.
If you're at the stage of life where you have more vacation time, you can take a longer cruise through the Panama Canal or to the Hawaiian Islands.
Do you want to have fun in the sun?
You're in luck! There are lots of great choices at reasonable pricing.
