Come Back New

Taking my own advice, I recently took a whale watching cruise to Cabo San Lucas with Julie aboard the beautiful Ruby Princess.
In keeping with Princess' usual high maintenance and update standards, Ruby Princess had been refurbished just two weeks before our cruise. With carpets replaced with contemporary designs, it felt very much like a new ship.
The menus also received updates, with delicious new recipes being prepared perfectly by the conscientious galley crew. The seafood dishes in particular were outstanding.
Princess also brought more flavors of the Mexican Riviera to the dining room menu.
Chips with guacamole and salsa were frequently available as a buffet side dish, and there always seemed to be tostadas, tacos or some other Mexican entree as choices in the buffet.
This helped provide a more authentic Mexico feel throughout this short cruise with only one port, an overnight stay in Cabo San Lucas. But Princess didn't stop there.
A talented mariachi band provided entertainment throughout the cruise. They proved quite versatile, stretching beyond the usual happy music you might hear from less-prolific minstrels you might hear at a restaurant to very danceable salsa and chachas, plus surprisingly some Sinatra-era or rock songs, depending on the focus of their set.
On our one night in Cabo, we were treated to the award winning Mexico Folklorico Festival in the Princess Theatre. Beginning with ancient native American dances through traditional Spanish and the uniquely Mexican hat dance, the show proved to be quite entertaining, with talented performers in beautiful costumes.
Some younger people, however, took advantage of the overnight stay to party in port town revelry.
But I was going to tell you about whale watching in Cabo. Here's a link to my blog that incudes a few photos along with a narrative about our excursion.
Are you ready to go whale watching, whether on the Mexican Riviera, Hawaii or Alaska?
I'd love to help you get there.
