Chart a Course for Adventure!
Published Tuesday, April 1st 2025 - Updated Tuesday, April 1st 2025If you're like me, "Set a course for adventure" immediately brings The Love Boat theme song to mind.
So now that it is stuck in your head, I'll include a recent version by a singer that fans of a more recent hit TV show, Ted Lasso, will recognize as the team owner.
SPOILER ALERT: If you're a lyric-nerd like me, you'll notice that the lyrics have been slightly tweaked, including changing that specific phrase to "Chart a course for adventure." That is actually a better lyric than the original, in my opinion, because it is more travel specific.
Small adaptations have evolved cruising into the amazing experience we all now expect.
Princess, in fact, has often made a point of saying that for them, new ships were always more of an evolution than a revolution.
While Princess ships have changed, upon returning, we always feel at home again.
When you go someplace exotic, it's nice to be able to return at night to a comfortable home away from home.
On our recent packaged land tour of South Africa, we did not have that luxury of returning to a cruise ship, but we did appreciate having a tour leader to keep us on course for getting the most of our time.
Having beautiful lodgings and dining locales where we knew we could safely appreciate local flavors resulted in this being a softer adventure than packing a backpack with what we hoped might fulfill our needs to strike into the jungle. It was not necessary to tote an elephant gun to protect us in case one of the Big Five perceived us to be prey.
As with cruises, there are different levels of adventures, comfort and elegance, depending on your goals and budgets.
You know I tend to be a Cheeseburger in Paradise type of guy for my own travels, but I'm happy to help you get as luxe as you desire.
It's a big, wonderful world out there, full of exciting things to see and do. These adventures don't necessarily cost as much as you think they must, though I would also caution you against cheaping-out to the point of making it a miserable experience just to say you did it.
Where do you want to go next? I'd love to help you get there.
