Many are called, but few are cruising.

At this point, I feel like Charlie Brown having the football pulled out from in front of me by Lucy with regard to saying cruise lines will soon be open based on the latest news.

Shorter cruises from US ports to Caribbean and Mexico destinations seem most likely to be running first, but it's hard to say.

Because Florida is far more business-friendly, the Caribbean from Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Port Canaveral seem like the best bets.  That's where Carnival will begin, though their plan to open in November was delayed to December by logistics after President Trump was hospitalized.

Winter is coming, though not in the way gloomily implied by Ned Stark in the culural phenomenon of its day that now seems a distant memory, Game of Thrones.

Winter is coming, and with it the happy prospects of cruising.

Winter is coming, and it is the best time to cruise the Caribbean and Mexico.

Winter is coming, and the Caribbean and Mexico are open for business.

Sunny weather.   Warm turquoise water.  Big hearts.  Low Crowds.  Cold drinks.  High spirits.  The perfect happy ending to a long imprisonment.

One thing I can say for sure is that the Christmas cruise to Hawaii that my friends Brion and Rita have been planning to take was cancelled the day before final payment.

Their ship, Star Princess, was sold right out from under them.  More accurately, Star Princess was transferred to another Carnival Corporation line, P&O Australia, along with sister ship Golden Princess.

As you may recall, Julie and I love this Hawaii itinerary roundtrip from Los Angeles that allows us to take the bus to Hawaii.  Brion and Rita have taken this same trip a few times, saying they love as much as we do.

Oh well, I guess they have to postpone it to the spring.

Only because Star Princess is not longer in the fleet, it means all of those springtime Hawaii cruises are gone, at least for now.  Hopefully Princess will arrange another ship to take her place.  That's certainly what we hope.

In the mean time, our ukuleles will gently weep.

Mahalo,

Wes

P.S. Our viirtual river cruise reaches historic Pressburg today!
