To Travel Is to Live

To some extent, many people seem to be suffering with "Stockholm Syndrome."
During a 1973 bank robbery in Sweden. two bank robbers held four innocent victims hostage for six days. Despite being held against their wills, the hostages began to identify with their captors. "After the hostages were released, they refused to testify against their captors and even began raising money for their defense."
After months of having freedoms restricted by government regulations and fear of Covid-19, we're now free to get out to enjoy the world again.
Presumably you have either taken one of the miracle vaccines developed in 2020 that have been made available for all American adults in 2021 or have decided that your natural immunity or having already suffered the virus firsthand is sufficient to handle whatever this disease may serve you.
Rather than asking you why you aren't embracing your freedom to travel, perhaps you need to remember why we travel.
This Princess Cruises video offers a positive prod.
Large ships have been cruising in international waters for months, and now the CDC has given the go-ahead for vaccinated Americans to cruise in US waters. Congress has even made a special exception to allow Alaska cruises roundtrip from Seattle without need to call on a foreign port, just to make your summer vacation possible.
There are lawsuits going back and forth as to whether a vaccination should be required or even can legally be required to cruise, so if you aren't vaccinated or are traveling with children who are too young to be vaccinated (and many would question whether they should be forced to be vaccinated, given the fact that most face zero risk of a serious case of Covid-19), then you may be forced to simply visit a national park or do other vacation close to home.
However, if you're vaccinated, what are you waiting for? Whether everyone else has been vaccinated or not, you know you are protected, and others who have not gotten their vaccinations have made their choice. They can hole-up inside or live, but that need not affect you.
Let's find a cruise for you to take this summer or fall.
If you are not quite ready to make that commitment, book a cruise for 2022 or 2023.
Just wake up and get a plan in place so you don't find youself testifying on behalf of your captors while what should have been your life slips away in self-imposed chains.
