If you're ready to cruise this summer and want a commitment of certainty for a large ship cruise, NCL has followed Royal Caribbean's lead by announcing three great cruises that will serve American guests in slightly uncoventional ways.

First, you can cruise the Greek Isles on amazing cruises from Athens on Norwegian Jade any week between July 25, 2021, through November 7, 2021.  As you know, I think cruises to the cradle of civilization are musts for all families, a wonderful bonding experience to learn how fortunate we are to live in Western Civilzation, especially at a time when we seem to be sliding toward a world dominated by Communist China.

The other two cruises will be free to cruise the Caribbean by ditching the US home port and skipping stops in US islands like St. Thomas and Puerto Rico.

Norwegian Joy will operate 7-day cruises to the Western Caribbean from Montego Bay, Jamaica from August 7, 2021, through October 9, 2021.Norwegian Gem will operate 7-day cruises to the Eastern Caribbean from Punta Cana (La Romana), the Dominican Republic from Aug ust15, 2021, through October 10, 2021.

Unfortunately, this announcement came with the additional news that my planned cruise from London to Scotland, Norway and Iceland for August has been cancelled, as have all other Norwegian ships.

What does this mean if you have a cruise planned with one of the other big ship lines like Carnival, Princess or the other ships in the Royal Caribbean/Celebrity family?

That still remains to be seen.   I can say that at a recent conference, Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, said they had no plans to redeploy their ships from US home ports this summer, and their chips are bet on the CDC coming through once vaccinations are the norm for Americans.

What does it mean for river cruises and other small ships?  Small ships have always been exempted by the CDC from their draconian regulations.

In any case, the good news for now is there are some more ocean cruises you can book with certainty of cruising with NCL joining Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and Crystal for limited offerings this summer.
