The Bahamas or Eastern Caribbean?
Published Friday, May 19th 2023When you think summer, do you imagine sunny beaches by bright blue seas and swimming pools?
Your summer paradise may be closer than you think.
First, look at the calendar.
It's May 19.
In a month, it will be June 19, which most of us consider summer, even if sometimes that meant signing yearbooks while still going through the motions of attending the last few days of high school.
Three months to sit around on the shady front porch and repeat, "I don't know, what do you want to do today?"
Imagine you as that high school kid but now you can afford to retrace the tracks of James Bond in the Bahamas. Or livin' La Vida Loca in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Or transported to St. Maarten, an island where you can visit two European countries and still have time for snorkeling on the same day.
Now flash forward three more months, and it is September 19, and instead of cruising to those fun islands, you stayed home all summer.
Yep, you have hashed and rehashed every side of the latest political click-bait (proving you to be much more mature than your high school self), watched every pitch and foul ball for both your favorite American and National League teams, and even found time to watch the entire first season of Barney Miller, which might have been as funny as you remembered it. BUT, you missed summer.
Oh, I almost forgot.
The other reason the Eastern Caribbean and Bahamas may be closer than you think is where you can catch a cruise.
If you live east coast, not only may you go to Florida ports to catch a cruise to the Bahamas or Eastern Caribbean, but you can also embark great ships in New York, New Jersey, Norfolk, Baltimore and Charlotte. There are a handful of Carnival cruises from Galveston and New Orleans too.
Then again, no matter where you live, if there's a will, there's a way.
Find success in a can...as in, YES YOU CAN!
I don't know.
What do you want to do today?
Wes
