Bora Bora and Moorea are the kinds of places where if you drop your camera and accidentally snap the shutter, then the printed result could probably work as a postcard.

And that's just above the water's surface.

The greatest beauty of the region to me is the glorious undersea world of brightly colored fish swimming among otherworldly coral formations.

While land stays in over-water bungalows watching "Tahitian television" --- a window in the floor of your swank hut perched above the sea --- certainly are enticing, there's so much more entertainment available as you cruise to the next amazing port after spending the day exploring the seas and lovely beaches.

Two of the most awe-inspiring parts of a French Polynesia cruise to me come when sailing into the multi-shades of aqua encircling a tropical isle each morning and again sailing away during a gorgeous sunset.

The luxurious Paul Gauguin has been named top luxury cruise ship several times, and I would say the fact that she stays in French Polynesia is a primary reason.

Windstar also sails the waters of Tahiti very regularly.  The romance of the canvas unfurling and then filling with wind in the evening to the strains of "1492" can't be overstated.

Large mainstream ships often include Tahiti and Her Pearls on their routes between America and Australia, but if you crave an itinerary focused exclusively on tropical isles without sacrificing the features you've come to expect with mainstream ships --- not to mention budget-friendly, mainstream prices --- you'll be thrilled to know that Pacific Princess will be returning to French Polynesia in 2020

Pacific Princess carries just 700 guests, filling the gap nicely between small luxury ships and mega-ships.

Don't miss your chance to return to paradise...or take the trip of a lifetime.
