Leisure, Luxury and Learning
Published Tuesday, March 12th 2019 - Updated Tuesday, September 3rd 2019At heart, all vacations are leisure.
Cruising epitomizes leisure for many people. Because it includes gourmet meals, free entertainment in beautiful theaters or lounges and transportation to dream vacations, it is to some extent luxurious.
Many decide to take that luxury to the next level, maybe first paying a bit more for a window in your room and then a balcony room that opens the space to the great outdoors. Some make the quantum leap to Suites and more deluxe ships.
Successful young adults often find this represents the ultimate vacation. What more do you need? The destinations sometimes blur into irrelevancy, because you're living in the lap of luxury on a state-of-the-art ship, and it is the dream life they've always imagined.
A lot of us become what Princess calls "Meaningful Travelers," seeking to learn more about cultures of places we visit. We yearn to visit more places and experience what makes them unique, becoming port collectors.
Over the past few years, many seasoned travelers have gravitated to river cruises, which embody leisure, luxury and learning, but they've been primarily geared to people close to or at retirement age.
Now there is a cruise line geared to younger travelers, U by Uniworld.
And if you desire more luxurious and spacious accommodations, you may also find more upscale ships that have special programs for more active young adults as well as separate tours for those on a slower pace.
Admittedly, a river cruise is a considerable bump pricewise above a tropical cruise departing from close-to-home, but it's the right choice for a burgeoning number of travelers who return home with wonderful memories that inspire others to take the trip of a lifetime on a river.
