I have to say that many families actually prefer Royal Caribbean over the line's upscale sister Celebrity, even when Celebrity costs less.

Celebrity noticed that too, so they're going after the family market with KIDS SAIL FREE on select cruises booked this month.  Wow!

No, Celebrity isn't known for having onboard surfing or skydiving, but they have great youth programs as well as the amazing dining for which they are world renowned.

And Celebrity has perk packages regularly available where you can choose from a menu of great amenities like Beverage Package, $150 pp on board credit, pre-paid gratuities and free unlimited wifi.  Right now, you can choose two perks, or all four for Suites.

But changes are afoot.  Is it a "Last Call For Alcohol?"???

No.

Celebrity just announced a price increase in their Unlimited Beverage Packages of $14 per day per guest, if the Bev Pkg is selected as one of your perks, taking effect October 10, 2019.

Celebrity stresses this is not a "Service Fee" like $19.95 per day charged by NCL for their Beverage Package, but let's face it: it's basically a Service Fee.

What does this mean to your bottom line?  If you select pre-paid gratuities plus Bev Pkg as your perks on a 7 night cruise, then that's an additional 7 X $14, or $98 per person more than you would pay if you selected $150 per person on board credit and free pre-paid gratuities.

So, if you think your bar tab would be less than $248 per person for a week, then you might want to go with the on board credit rather than the Bev Pkg.

Of course, there's something quite liberating about not having to worry about trivial things like drink prices while on a cruise.

Going a step further, if you prefer premium beverages rather than a smaller selection of beers, wines by the glass and well drinks under the standard package, you might want to splurge a bit more to pay $10 per person per day additional to get the Premium Spirits Package upgrade.

Then again, if you want the lowest price on the cruise, you can skip all Celebrity perks and just go with the lowest price sans perks.  When Xciting Deals come along close to the cruise, they can save you a lot of moolah, especially if you're more of a tea totaler.

The LAST CALL FOR ALCOHOL without this new $14 per guest per day price increase is October 9, 2019.  That's next Wednesday.

And remember, we have an exclusive Cruise Planners offer for Royal Caribbean: FREE PRE-PAID GRATUITIES for select Caribbean and Bahamas cruises deposited by October 11, 2019.  You can read more details and see some cool Royal Caribbean videos by clicking HERE.
