It's Magically Terrific!
Published Saturday, March 12th 2022 - Updated Saturday, March 12th 2022Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, Ireland announced lifting all Covid-19 related restrictions on travel.
That means no proofs of vaccines or tests to enter or travel around the Emerald Isle.
Yes, the United States may have restrictions for flights returning to the USA, but Ireland wants to roll out the welcome mat by making it as easy as possible to visit.
Of course, that's burying the lead.
Ireland's appeal far exceeds ease of travel, because quite frankly, hype about how restrictive travel can be has been overblown to some extent. Julie and I had no hassles once we figured out how to do an online Covid-19 test the day before boarding Majestic Princess.
We've all read books or watched movies prominently featuring Ireland's allure. Many Americans have ancestors who immigrated from Ireland. Most of us have visited an Irish pub, or at least seen them in TV shows.
While we can imagine it, you must experience it for yourself.
If you do, you'll likely want to return, as Julie and I did as part of our last summer vacation BC-19 (before Covid-19 shutdowns).
While I'm no epidemiologist myself, for me those shutdowns showed just how easily our rights to travel can vanish should governments declare a new emergency, and as such, I think we should travel where we can when the opportunity presents itself.
What magical voyage do you envision?
Is it a sojourn in Dublin?
A scenic self-driving vacation around the Ring of Kerry in a right-hand drive car with a stick-shift?
A British Isles cruise that includes Ireland?
Or something completely different, like an African safari or Alaska cruise?
Let's put some magic back in your life.
