Most years about this time, people have a yen to escape their daily routines, no matter how outstanding our normal lives may be.  People calling to book a river cruise in July have often heard that the sailing they wanted was sold out.

Not this year.

Because of the Covid-19 related delays and confusion in getting back into service, river cruise lines actually have space available on their most popular river cruises.

For example, how about a Danube River cruise?  You will visit several historic capital cities, including exotic Budapest and classic Vienna.   In between, the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava, will surprise and delight.

I recently asked how you will remember your best vacation ever?  If you go on a river cruise this summer or fall, you may very well from that point forward point to that very vacation.

I certainly remember my Danube and Rhine river cruises as contenders for the top spot, though I confess having too many favorites that I love for various reasons.  Certainly, as a couple traveling alone, river cruises are almost impossible to beat.

The free excursions in each port weave a perfect story of the region that will keep it memorable the rest of your life.

There are many great river cruise lines to choose from, but let me briefly highlight Viking, which has last minute discounts of $250 per person on some embarkation dates in August, as well as reduced air that includes transfers for an easy, seamless vacation.  And you can add pre- and post-night stays in cities like Amsterdam, Prague and Budapest, which factoring in the cost of top-notch lodging, private tours and an on-site local representative to guide you on where to go when you have free time, prove their value and then some.

If you only had six months to live, would you rather take a dream cruise or doze on your couch?

Live!
