Disney Cruise Lines confirmed what many of us expected.  With the arrival of new ships to their fleet, Disney will bring Wonder to the West Coast to sail the Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles in 2011.

Any time Disney has brought a ship west, consumer demand has been strong, selling out all voyages months in advance, so this will be a welcome addition.  She will cruise the traditional Mexican Riviera itinerary of Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan.

Following the traditions of many West Coast-based ships, Wonder will shift to Alaska for the summer season in 2011.  Always thinking ahead about how to make Disney Cruises special for their clients, Disney will put Wonder in dry dock in October and build a new venue called Outlook Cafe on Deck 10 with curved, floor-to-ceiling windows to showcase the amazing views in Alaska.

Alaska's controversial $50 per head tax on cruise passengers visiting Alaska which began a couple of years back has resulted in several cruise lines announcing they would cut back their presence in Alaska, so Disney will be filling a new void.

For families with small children, there simply is no cruise line that creates as much magic as Disney.  As such, their cruises always demand a premium price compared to the competition.  Disney also has a strong following with Baby Boomers who grew up with Disney and take the voyages whether or not children tag along.  Of course, lots of grandparents love sharing cruises with grandchildren.

If you've been waiting for Disney to cruise the Mexican Riviera or Alaska, don't hesitate.  Call me at 866-554-5553.  Balconies, suites and mini-suites inevitably sell out first, and the early bookers lock the best ship locations.
