Cinco de Maybe?
Published Friday, May 5th 2023 - Updated Friday, May 5th 2023Hola, Amigos!
Feliz Cinco de Mayo!
While you might head to the interior of Mexico for a vacation, most Americans focus on the sunny shores.
Both coasts have wonderful beaches, with all-inclusive resorts perfect for those who want to spend a week soaking up sun and cervezas.
Because Mexico is easier to reach by air than islands from most of the US, flights tend to cost less, making the bottom line of your vacation more affordable.
Either coast makes a fun cruise destination, and getting to a cruise embarkation can be easier and cheaper.
On the east coast, we refer to these voyages to Mexico as Western Caribbean cruises, which on 7-night trips combine Cozumel and maybe another Mexican port along with other great sunny destinations like Jamaica, Roatan or Belize.
4- or 5-night voyages may stay exclusively with Mexico ports.
There are lots of cruises to the Western Caribbean year-round from ports in Florida, Texas and a few other US homeports.
Week-long West Coast cruises are usually called the Mexican Riviera, with short escape cruises go to Ensenada and perhaps a stop at Catalina Island. A five-night cruise to Cabo can be a great escape. Carnival always has multiple ships on the west coast year-round. This summer, Princess and Royal Caribbean will each have a ship on the west coast, broadening the southbound choices.
From fall through spring, there are always lots of ships cruising to sunny Mexico.
So, when will you plan your trip?
It's not too late to book your cruise for this summer, or you can plan ahead for a winter break, when you know you will be going stir crazy if you don't get someplace warm.
You even have time to book a trip to celebrate next Cinco de Mayo in Mexico.
Ole!
