Cruising from Galveston!
Published Thursday, August 25th 2022 - Updated Thursday, August 25th 2022The booming economy of the Lone Star State combined with low taxes and a relatively modest cost of living means lots of Texans are ready to cruise.
Driving to Galveston on many straight, smooth highways makes that home port an easy choice.
Galveston also appeals to California residents, because DFW Airport is in the middle of the country, whereas Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and Port Canaveral are on the far side. This can translate into making it possible for Los Angelenos to board an early morning flight and cruise the same day from Galveston, whereas for Florida ports, they must either take a redeye flight or preferably fly in a couple of days early to spend time in the Sunshine State before boarding.
From Texas or Florida (plus a few other places including New Orleans, New York and New Jersey), you can enjoy the Caribbean dream vacation you likely most associate with cruising.
It's a great time to plan for your Summer of '23 cruise, and I'm already receiving inquiries from eager beavers.
Unlike almost everything else, cruise pricing doesn't seem to have ballooned yet for upcoming months, probably because many working-class families are focused on their short-term budgets, dealing with higher gas prices, groceries and school supplies rather than leisure travel.
However, there also is pent-up travel demand, so I wouldn't delay booking.
By the way, have you considered cruising over New Year's Eve?
For the price of an expensive hotel/restaurant party, you can choose a great cruise, like 5-nights aboard Royal Caribbean Adventure of the Seas or 8-nights aboard Carnival Dream.
Give it some thought. Cruising over New Year's Eve from Galveston is a fantastic choice, as we learned sixteen years ago on Grand Princess during a fun Exotic Western Caribbean cruise.
Definitely don't delay.
Many Texans seem to have been waiting for Covid-19 mandates to be lifted, and a floodgate of cruise demand has been released with recent announcements of relaxed protocols.
Book with a refundable deposit, and by final payment, you'll be happy you did.

P.S. Forward this cruise to five friends, and you might just have five times as much fun on your next cruise.
