Ready For Spaghetti Harvest Season in Switzerland?
Published Friday, October 1st 2021 - Updated Friday, October 1st 2021There's nothing quite as special as a European river cruise, where you can be enveloped in an unsurpassed vacation experience.
Have you ever imagined a Christmas Markets cruise through the heart of Europe?
The air is crisp, the aromas from mulled wines and ginger bread sweet and ambiance delightful.
As with other cruises returning to service, prices are attractive for the last quarter of 2021, while many potential travelers remain in self-quarantine.
2022 will bring higher pricing, but no less delightful an experience.
Most of us dream of warm weather cruise along the Danube, Rhine or one of the wonderful rivers of France. Spring through fall is terrific. First hand experience puts a Danube cruise aboard AmaWaterways high on my list of best vacations ever.
Wine harvest in the fall?
Julie and I loved our Uniworld cruise along the Rhine and Moselle late in harvest season a few years back, and I highly recommend it.
But perhaps you should consider one of the less expected pleasures.
Spaghetti Harvest Time in Switzerland!
You can learn more by watching this BBC video from a few years ago. The lack of publicity has kept it from becoming overrun by tourists even 65 years after this video aired in 1957.
Of course, in this world where many people avoid gluten or carbs in general, you may think you wouldn't choose Spaghetti Harvest Season unless you're a glutton for punishment, but in fact, even themed cruises not of particular interest to you personally take you through amazing history and beauty in a region of your choosing.
You choose excursions to suit your tastes, whether a more active tour hiking or biking, pleasures of wines and cuisine, or history, and no matter what you choose, you'll love it, because the excursion guides have been carefully selected to give you the best experience ever.
Bon boyage, and for people who may or may not be spaghetti enthusiasts, bon appetit!

P.S. If you believe Spaghetti trees are the only ones worth seeing, you should visit Washington, D.C. for the Money Tree Harvest this year! It's always fascinating to watch politicians harvesting this abundant crop that grows wild. It can be more financially enriching than the much more beautiful Cherry Blossom Season.
I guess it depends on what you value most.
